When I first got the idea for the Maple Cove Dog Lovers’ Society, it was summer. I was sitting by the lake near my house in the summer, watching a group of dog owners meet up and let their dogs play.
And an idea hit me. I should write a series that features dogs. Not dogs that talk, or anything, just dogs and their owners who are looking for love. By the time I’d put thought out the details of the series—the name of the town, where the town was, several of the characters and some interlinking plots—I got to writing. When I finished it was January, which is why this book takes place in that month (despite the cover looking very spring-like. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and there’s too much gray most of the year 🙂
The result is two veterinarians who butt heads and hearts as they try to bring a failing animal hospital back to profitability.
